Friends of the Fall River Public Library

Friends Bookstore: The Friends of the Fall River Public Library Bookstore is now open year-round. The bookstore, located on the second floor balcony of the library, offers gently used paperback and hardcover books, audio books, music CDs, movies, and children's items. It's a great way to pick up some bargains and support the library. The Friends Bookstore is open most hours that the library is open, including evenings and Saturdays. Hours may vary, so please call the library to confirm. The Friends are always in need of volunteers to staff the bookstore, so join and donate your time to a good cause!

Friends of the Fall River Public Library, Inc., is a non-profit charitable organization of more than 300 citizens who have been working together since 1973 to help the Fall River Public Library serve the community.

Our Record of Service: Friends help the library through sponsorship of special programs, such as book talks, art programs, and cultural events; contributions of books and equipment; and publicizing and supporting library needs. For example, Friends furnished the new South Branch Library with shelves, children's furniture, and a rug. We purchased the movie license for the Main Library for their Monday Movie Night and Wednesday Movie Matinee. Friends help the library to participate in community events, like AHA! Night, and provide materials and equipment to supplement the library’s programs.

On Being a Friend: Goals of the Friends are to focus public attention on the Fall River Public Library; to stimulate the use of its resources and services; to encourage gifts, endowments, and bequests; and to cooperate in developing library services and facilities in the Fall River community.

Benefits of Membership: Free admission to all Friends-sponsored special events; invitation to the annual meeting and reception; receipt of mailings containing information and notice of events of special interest to library supporters; Friends early entrance to book sales and satisfaction of being involved in a community service.

Become a Friend!   Anyone interested in our goals may become a member. Simply pick up a membership form during library hours, complete it, and mail it along with your annual dues to: Friends of the Fall River Public Library, Inc., 104 North Main Street, Fall River, MA 02720. Or you can download the membership form (it's a PDF file), fill it in and mail it or drop it off at the library.

Show Your Support! The Friends of the Fall River Public Library are now selling library book bags for $3.50. These handy, reusable book bags are roomy enough to hold lots of books, DVDs, CDs, notebooks, your e-reader ... anything you'll need for a trip to the library (or anywhere else). The Friends also sell audio ear buds for $2.00 and USB flash drives for $10 (2 GB) to store your electronic data.

All funds raised go to benefit the library.
