The library offers a variety of programs for children, including weekly storytimes, crafts, music and art programs, and special events. Pick up a monthly calendar in the Children’s Room and check our online calendar and Facebook page for a full listing of events.

Preschool Storytime

Tuesday mornings, 11 am – 11:45 am

Join us every Tuesday at 11 for a fun morning of stories! Each program includes approximately 30 minutes of stories from a selection of popular children’s books and also features puppets, songs, and other activities. Each session will end with an easy-to-make craft.

Introduce your preschooler to the exciting world of children’s literature!

Play & Learn

Wednesday mornings, 10 am – 11:30 am

This program is designed to allow caregivers an opportunity to participate in social and art-based activities that promote family literacy. Activities include a story, circle time songs, and finger plays. Recommended for children ages 5 and under. To register your child, please contact Miss Shannon at sdunbar@fallriverschools.org.

Sponsored by the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement  (CFCE) Grant awarded to the Fall River Public Schools by the Department of Early Education and Care.

Always check our online event calendar to make sure storytimes are running.

Summer Reading

Each summer, the library hosts a themed summer reading program for kids ages 12 and younger. The Summer Reading theme for 2024 was Reading Rangers, with a theme of animals and nature. During the summer, we offer weekly Stories on the Lawn under the Story Tent, every Tuesday at 11 a.m. In addition, there are seven weeks’ worth of fun family events, including concerts, puppet shows, magic shows, wildlife visits, crafts, and more. All children who complete their summer reading goal win weekly prizes and are eligible for a grand prize drawing at the end of the summer.

Each week in the Children’s Room

Two colorful drink floats shaped like a pink flamingo with an umbrella and a smiling blue shark with a palm tree, decorated with starfish and seashells, sit on a light blue surface.

Take-Home Crafts

Each week when you visit the Children’s Room, you can pick up a new take and make craft! We’ll have a fun, seasonal selection of toys, decorations, and activities kids can make on their own.

Our take-home craft series is generously sponsored by Debby and Richard Danner.
